Fiw

During a severe unrecorded electrical storm in 1977, a lightning bolt struck a secret genetics lab in the North West of England. This disaster merged the genetic makeup of six of the workers, turning them into six of the world’s most fearsome super heroes ever known.

It was in this laboratory that Fiw, as we now know him, was born. A half eaten toasted sausage and melted cheese sandwich, with ketchup (Heinz), was scrambled with a caged Badger who went by the name of Sparky.

He managed to escape from the burning Laboratory, and was discovered by the Carlton family. They took care of him as though he was one of their own. They brought him up through childhood to be a kind, generous well spoken young gentleman, whilst the other 6 survivors took about saving the world from natural destruction, and from sinister beings from worlds far away that only comics and cheap 70’s sci-fi could dream up.

He first picked up a guitar at about the age of 15 and learned to play Paradise City. He decided that the bass guitar best suited him, and complemented his high cheek bones and chiselled chin.

His first gig was with a band of merry teenagers known as The Schizophrenic Turkey Farmers from Hell. They had no drummer. Don’t ask me why. I suppose that they just couldn’t find one. Their first, and only gig was at some friends’ 6th form leaving party in front of a very sceptical audience. They pulled it off, and didn’t get a good kicking from the audience.

The band disappeared up its own arse and was never spoken of again. Not even now.

FiW with holy grail

After three years at university and a few months in 'reality' of work, Phil discovered that he lived in a small world when he was introduced to Iain, from Bristol, by an old uni friend, from Cheltenham, and then a work colleague from Berlin. Iain was a scruffy song-writing guitarist. He put pen to paper with such songs as "Hangin' for Fame'" and "Indie Skipping Girl."

Iain (guitar, keyboards), Dilek (vocals, triangle), Alex (vocals), Dan (percussion) and Fiw (bass) formed Chaperone. Although never unleashed onto the world, a basis was set. After a short split, Dan completely vanished, along with any trace he ever existed, and Alex couldn't be arsed with the whole malarkey, Lee took control of the sticks and let his long ginger locks swing about.

Dilek disappeared due to differences and formed some other band. There were no hard feelings.

Two days later, Fiw asked a friend, Trace, if she fancied singing in the band. She said the three little words that he wanted to hear. "Err... yeah, alright."

The rest is history.
