Nina's House - 2nd March 2002

Slightly nervy start to the set that night as it was only the second time minusoneraver had played to an audience, but by the end of "Weak" they were well on their way.  "Creep", which is an anthem of the nineties, enjoyed a very good reception.  The first original tune of the set was the rock number "Dead Beat Town" with some fantastic guitar licks from Rob and the hook line "I made mine real" from Trace.  Hangin' for fame didn't quite reach it's usual crescendo, so one to work on there, nevertheless a hit with the crowd.  Linger was tight and the success it is always sure to be.  Things were going very well until the tricky, "You can go your own way".  Trace's incorrect vocal before the midsection threw the band askew and the tune almost fell apart completely, Lee managed to through a timely snare in and Rob and Phil followed suit.  the song ended in style with Trace laughing and jumping around like the maniac she is.

Low points of the set were "Dark Therapy" and "Angel".  Interest seemed to wane as the two slow tracks meandered along.  A change in the set list order would be appropriate.  They should put something faster in-between.

Biggest hit of the set was, predictably, "Into the Sun".  It's pounding bassline and vocal melody is sure to charm an audience and get heads nodding like a David Gray appreciation society.  So successful in fact, that the band were asked to repeat it as an encore.

Overall, a successful outing and a good pre-lude to "Battle of the Bands" at the Clocktower.
